This past summer, I read John MacArthur's Twelve Extraordinary Women as a part of a class at church. It's an easy, insightful read. MacArthur details the lives of twelve women in the Bible and tells us what we can learn from them, including Eve, Sarah, and Mary, the mother of Jesus. He doesn't stop there, however, but also encourages application of what you are learning.
I recommend this book to anyone who is interested in learning more about the women in the Bible.

Have you read any of the "Bad Girls of the Bible" by Liz Curtis Higgs? I am wondering if this is similar or not. I have really enjoyed reading those books.

ReplyDeleteYes, I've read the first "Bad Girls of the Bible" book. I think it is somewhat similar, though I think MacArthur does a greater job drawing out the theological implications of the biblical text. Plus, the people MacArthur outlines generally give us good examples, while "Bad Girls" gives us bad examples primarily.
