I have this card that I created a couple of years ago when I did a giveaway on my main blog asking readers for book recommendations. It's a card with books/authors that people have recommended to me so I don't have to rely on just back covers when I'm picking out a book. The problem is, the number of books on the list that are not crossed out is dwindling. I want to fill that card back up with recommendations from you.
Help me fill that card back up with your recommendations. The book doesn't have to be released in the past year, just your favorite book that you've read.
Anyone who gives me a recommendation will get a copy of my recommendations card (if you want it) and be entered to win any book of their choice from the five million books posted on Paperbackswap.com. Not a terrible price to pay for something simple like telling me about your favorite book. Giveaway ends at midnight EST on June 30th but feel free to continue giving me book recommendations.

Judging from what I know of your personal taste, I think you'd really like Marian Keyes' books. She's sort of a secular Karen Kingsbury. On the surface her books are fun chick lit, but she uses that to highlight very serious issues in very sneaky ways. She's one of the only writers that manages to surprise me every time. All of her books are great, there's no dud among them, but I'd have to say my favorite of hers is "Is Anybody Out There?"
ReplyDeleteThe best book I've read so far this year would have to be Room by Emma Donoghue. My favorite book I read last year was The Book Thief by Markus Zusak... but I also enjoyed The Hunger Games series, The Help and Water for Elephants.

My favorite book I've read in the past year is The Book Thief. My favorite book of all time, however, is Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley. It's long but worth every minute!
ReplyDeleteI really loved The Glass Castle by Jeanette Walls. It was such a reflection opportunity to think about my own childhood. Really amazing book! I also just got done reading The Good Earth by Pearl S. Buck and I thought it was also very self-reflective. Those are my favorite types of books, the ones that require me to change after I've read them.
