My Sister's Keeper- Book or Movie?
I know a number of you have read My Sister's Keeper, but have any of you seen the movie? I went and saw the movie last night and am interested to see what other people thought. I know books never translate exactly into on-screen movies so I wasn't expecting an exact replica of the book. Thoughts?

I know many people are disappointed with the movie, I am not.
ReplyDeleteWhile yes, the movie is different - I felt they did a wonderful job capturing the essence pf what it was about. I still felt the deep emotional pull as the family struggled... i still (once again) was angry at the mom in the beginning feeling that she was selfish...
Of course I prefer the book. The sons character did not reflect the turmoil as well as it did in the book... and I prefer the book ending - but so does Jodi Picoult.
Overall I think people just have to look at them as the same - but different. They are both done well, in their way.
I haven't seen the movie yet, but I will after it's on DVD. I didn't like the book, but I think it'll make a much better movie.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed the book and am looking forward to seeing the movie once it is on DVD. They probably will be different - but most of the time that is OK too. Reading a book is a totally different experience from reading a book - so the two things should be different.
ReplyDeleteI thought the movie was okay, they got the essence of the book, but a lot was left out.
