The Unseen by T. L. Hines

From the very beginning, The Unseen hooked me. It was the perfect book to read in the midst of my stressful days as I couldn't wait to get back into it.

Lucas is a loner, but he doesn't avoid people. Instead, he puts himself in positions to watch them unnoticed: in the ceiling, in a closet, etc. He loves to imagine up life stories for them, and connects with them in his own unique way. Lucas has rules though: he never watches people in their own homes.

Then things change. After meeting another "creep" in a steam tunnel, he's introduced to the Creep Club which takes the craft to a whole new level. These people not only watch people in public, they watch them in their own home. They record their conversations and interactions, seeking something juicy. Ultimately, they are thrilled with the possibility of catching a murder on camera.

Lucas doesn't fit in, but helps someone out when he finds out he is in danger. Through a series of events, he is being hunted by several and used by others. You never quite know who is good and who is bad as in every chapter things change that make you reevaluate what you know about the story.

As much as I enjoyed the beginning of the story, I didn't enjoy the ending as much. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't what I expected. I don't read a lot of thrillers, so I would have been happy to read about Lucas's observations of others and what he found out. If you are into thrillers, I think you will find this a fascinating and unusual one. It's certainly not predictable!

  2. That sounds different, like nothing I've ever read before! I will have to look for this at the library.
