Divine Secrets of the YaYa Sisterhood by Rebecca Wells

Sorry it's been a while since I've posted anything on here. I've been extremely busy the past six weeks but I have been reading. I've actually read five books since I posted last so here are some quick reviews of the books I've read.

If any of you have seen the movie, it's really not necessary to read the book. It really is very much the same story in the two, and it wasn't as interesting as me because I already knew the entire storyline. For those of you who haven't seen the movie or read the book, here's a quick synopsis. Four women are friends from their childhood until late adulthood, and a lot of the book is about one of those women, Vivi and her middle aged daughter, Sidda. The daughter, Sidda doesn't understand some of the things that her mom did when she was growing up but learns all about it from a journal her mother kept called the Divine Secrets. The book is a series of present time and flashbacks stories about the mother's experiences in life.

I actually really enjoyed both the movie and book, and it left me wanting for my best girl friends. There are just some things you can't do with guys that you can with the girls. As with most books turned movie, I had a hard time imagining Vivi as anything other than Ashley Judd and Sidda as anything other than Sandra Bullock. I would recommend reading the book first to make for a better read.

  1. I read the book when it came out several years ago. I thought it was okay, but that it didn't warrant all the attention it was getting. Then the movie came out and I felt pretty much the same way about that. Best part about the movie was Maggie Smith.
