Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly event hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. They pick a top ten topic every week and all sorts of book bloggers write posts about that topic.
We all have them - books that sit on our bookshelf forever. Some that we get around to reading and others that literally just collect dust forever. I'm going to change it up a little and list the top ten books that have been sitting on my bookshelf for the longest that I really want to read, just haven't gotten around to it. Let me know if you've read any of these books and if they should make it off my bookshelf anytime soon.
- 127 Hours: Between a Rock and a Hard Place by Aron Ralston
- Bel Canto by Ann Patchett
- Black by Ted Dekker
- In Cold Blood by Truman Capote
- The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien
- Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton
- Sing You Home by Jodi Picoult
- Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte
- Love in the Time of Cholera by Gabriel Garcia Marquez
- The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett
I've read #2, #8, #9, and #10. But seriously you've never read Jane Eyre???? Be warned, Pillars of the Earth is a great book but contains many many descriptions of large quantities of pubic hair.
ReplyDeleteI've actually read a few. I tried to read Bel Canto like 4 times but couldn't make it past the first 50 pages... i don't know why. Black by Dekker is like one of my ALL TIME FAVORITE books... aaaaamazing. Especially if you like Christian Fiction that isn't preachy... omg, pick it up NOW! I read The Things They Carried back in college and thought it was slow, but meaningful. And lastly, Love In The Time of Cholera... hated it... hated every second of it. The writing is good, but the story sucks. Oh, and don't feel bad, I've never read Jane Eyre either! haha.
ReplyDeleteoh goodness please read In Cold Blood. It's one of my ALL TIME FAVORITE books. i've read it at least three times. it's just so eerie and excellent and yes.
ReplyDeleteWow, I can't believe I'm going to disagree with Katelin, but I say SKIP In Cold Blood. I had such high hopes for it and it just let me down. Perhaps the eerie-ness that Katelin loved came across to me as slow and boring ;-)
ReplyDeleteI am ashamed to say that I have never Jane Eyre either. I'll read it with you!
ReplyDeleteOne fine morning, just browsing through net in search of some good resource of information about Nook Reviews, i found your post. Really very informative and nice blog. Thanks for sharing your experience.
ReplyDeleteI know, I know. I can't believe I've never read Jane Eyre either. I just ordered it (well it was free) for my Kindle and am planning to read it on my road trip this week.
