Twilight Series??

Hey has anyone else read the Twilight series by Stephanie Meyer? If you have, have you read the 4th and final book Breaking Dawn? I would really like to see what other people thought about the book. Let me know if you have. You can either comment on this post or email me!

  1. I've never read them; I'm not really sure they're my style!

  2. I've only read the first book. I was waiting for the price to come down on the 2nd one. They were on sale at the store this morning, but I just realized I got the 3rd one instead of the 2nd. Would sure help if they were clearly numbered!

  3. I loved it. My few friends who have finished it also really loved it. It's not without its problems, and I could very easily talk at length about those problems. But they don't make me change my mind and dislike the book. I thought it was unexpected and a great way to end the series. I think this one is my favorite of the four, only second to Twilight. I don't know why people are hating it so much, I'm not sure what they expected or what they wanted. I think the hate for it is waaaay over the top.

Everyone I know who I suggested the series to read the first three books in under a week. I very much recommend it as an escapist read, with its flaws and everything. Especially

  6. I've read them all. My reviews are on my book blog, which should be linked to my profile.

I'm not a big Twilight fan. I liked Breaking Dawn the best. She tells a good story, but she really needs a good editor.

  7. I haven't read any of them, though all the hoopla surrounding them has me curious. But I am also a little hesitant...are they so popular because they are that good, or are they popular because of mass hysteria? People read them because everyone else is reading them and they don't want to be left out?

  8. Jacki- they really are that good. In fact my sister made me really angry because she told me she refuses to read them purely because they are popular, and will read them once the furor dies down. Which is like saying that she won't have a margarita at a party even if she really really wants one just because everyone else is drinking margaritas, and that would be, like, so totally lame!

But I do agree with Holly that the books were not edited well. There are many scenes that add nothing whatsoever, like chapters describing what Bella does all day, including taking a nap in the back yard or washing the dishes. The books could be much shorter and still good.

  9. They probably are not edited very well because they wanted to get them all out before the popularity dies down.

Okay, you have convinced me to buy them this weekend and start reading them.

  10. Here's my review of Breaking Dawn (http://tinyurl.com/5tmjv4). I read the first three back to back, but I refuse to think about why I did that. and yes, Meyer needs a very good editor. those books should have been half their length and... well, it's in my reviews. I won't be reading any more of the series.

  11. Even the things you may think are pointless like Bella reading in the backyard and falling asleep are important if you just read Midnight Sun. She's a great author and she doesn't need and editor.
